Professional Hardwood Flooring Installation in Arizona
Timeless GrainHardwood flooring is a timeless investment that adds warmth, character, and lasting value to any home. Whether you prefer the authenticity of solid hardwood or the added stability of engineered hardwood, we offer professional installation for both, tailored to your space, subfloor, and lifestyle.
Solid or Engineered: What Is the Difference?
Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood from top to bottom. Because of this, it can be sanded and refinished multiple times over its lifetime, making it a floor that can truly last generations. It is the most traditional option and carries natural character, variation, and depth.
Engineered hardwood features a real wood veneer over a multi-layer plywood or HDF core. This construction gives it greater dimensional stability, meaning it expands and contracts less with temperature and humidity changes. That can make engineered hardwood a better fit for areas where slight moisture fluctuations are a concern, including homes on concrete slab foundations, which is common throughout the East Valley.
Both are real wood, and we install both. The right choice depends on your subfloor, your environment, and how long you plan to stay in the home. We walk you through it at the estimate.
What Installation Method Is Used?
There is no one-size-fits-all installation method. The correct method depends on the specific flooring product, the manufacturer's installation instructions, your subfloor, and the moisture conditions of your space.
Nail / Staple Down — The traditional method for wood subfloors. Each plank is mechanically fastened for a solid, secure fit with no flex or movement.
Glue Down — Ideal for concrete subfloors or applications requiring a firm, permanent bond. Commonly used for engineered hardwood over slab.
Floating — Available only for compatible engineered hardwood products designed by the manufacturer to be installed this way. Planks click and lock together over the subfloor without being fastened directly to it. Not every hardwood product is approved for floating installation.
When installing over concrete, we assess each job individually and include a vapor barrier, an underlayment, or both when the subfloor conditions require it. Not every hardwood product or installation method is appropriate for every concrete slab — we help you choose what is correct for your specific situation.
Why Choose Gray's for Your Hardwood Flooring
Subfloor Assessment First
Before any hardwood goes down, we assess your subfloor for moisture, levelness, and condition. The right prep work is what separates a floor that lasts from one that squeaks, gaps, or buckles within a few years.
Right Method for Your Subfloor
Nail-down, glue-down, or floating, we use the installation method that fits your specific product, subfloor, and material. We follow the manufacturer's instructions and do what is correct.
